The Story
There are losses, there are blowouts, and then there is the 6th Edition. Team DC delivered the most lopsided result in FFI history — a 21–11 demolition across Columbia Country Club and Chevy Chase Club. Brendan Delany, the perennial Vice Captain with an 18+ handicap and a flair for the dramatic, was named MVP in what remains one of the great underdog performances in tournament lore. Team Philly had made roster moves: Murphy Barton (Bear's brother) and Mark 'Dr. Beeper' Kurd made their FFI debuts, while Rob Nathan was notably absent. None of it helped. The bus ride home to Philadelphia reportedly caused major changes — the kind of organizational soul-searching that precedes either a dynasty or a complete implosion. DC now led the series 4–2, and the Goblet showed no signs of leaving Washington.
