The Story
The one that started it all. In the spring of 2018, Captain Jeff Shanahan and Team Philly hosted Captain Matt Hopkins and Team DC for the inaugural Founding Fathers Invitational — a two-course affair across Applebrook Golf Club and Aronimink Golf Club. There was no trophy yet, no program, no welcome letter. Just two eight-man squads, 18 points on the line, and a vague sense that this might become a thing. It became a thing. Team Philly rolled to a 12–6 victory, and Pat Shanahan took home the first-ever MVP award. The rivalry was born. The formalities would follow.
